Log Cabin Schoolhouse

Calgary Girls' School came up with this fantastic idea for the Regional Trains where each student created their train out of clay and once dried and fired, they painted the body of the train according to the region they were studying.

Congratulations Ms Comeau on receiving a free clay class for your Canadian Symbols suggestion. Ms Comeau, a grade 5 social studies teacher at Mayland Heights, suggested that a variety of symbols can be included on students' personalized Canadian plaque, including a beaver, moose, flag, money, the rockies, maple leaf or a hockey stick. All teachers that submit a new idea that become a viable clay project receives a free clay class for their students.

We offer additional "Curriculum Support" material for the Log Cabin Schoolhouse.

Clay for Kids Scholarship Program 2011 / 2012

A number of schools have used our programs repeatedly. This year, we would like to acknowledge such learning facilities by offering a Clay for Kids Scholarship. This scholarship is available to all schools with greater than 60% of their student body participating in a Clay for Kid's class or mural project during the 2011 / 2012 school year.

The scholarship award will consist of a one-week clay building, pottery wheel and ceramic painting camp at the Clay for Kids Ceramic Studio worth up to $550 (some conditions apply). The school will receive a certificate for presentation to a student of their choice or as a fundraising opportunity. When fundraising, you can either raffle it or present it in a silent auction. Each school who receives a scholarship will be acknowledged on the Clay for Kids website. To qualify, classes must be delivered by June 30th, 2012. Please call 403.281.4882 for more information.
