A. The franchise fee is based on the population of the franchise territory and ranges from $12,000.00 to $31,500.00.

Q. Are there other start up costs?

A. You must have a space in you home for a desk, telephone with a separate line, fax, computer and other office equipment. You must have a studio or a suitable space for a kiln, drying shelves and counters. The studio can be located in a heated garage or basement. A suitable vehicle is required and you can charge your business for the use of your personal vehicle. A van is ideal but a hatchback or sedan can be used. We can help you to estimate these start up expenses which depend on your current situation.

Q. Do you need pottery experience?

A. Yes, even if it is a basic 10 week hand building and wheel-throwing course. You will be provided with the additional required pottery skills during our one week training program and by creating each student project using our detailed step-by-step instructions.

Q. Can you operate this business from your home?

A. Yes, Clay for Kids is ideally suited for operation as a home-based business. A franchise for a larger territory could be operated out of a central studio location if desired.

A. The initial contract is for a five-year term with an option to renew for two additional five-year terms.

A. We provide a comprehensive one-week (5 business days) training program in Calgary. This program includes training in our studio and office, and by attending classes in local schools.

A. We will come to your site to help you set up your operation and deliver your first classes. We will then provide on-going support by email, telephone and fax based on Maureen’s 24 years of experience in this business.
