Setting up for the Pottery Party

Here's what to expect at your party:

We will need a table or desk located near an electrical outlet for the pottery wheel demonstration. You can hold the party in a family room, kitchen, dining room, basement, on your deck or anywhere the participants can work on a table.

  1. There should be one package of paper towels and an ice cream bucket or a bowl filled with water on the instructor's table.
  2. During a ten to fifteen minute demonstration at the start of the party, we will talk to the children about clay and make a cup on our pottery wheel.
  3. We will then give the initial instructions for the desired project. The children will return to their table and proceed with their project, stopping once or twice to receive additional instructions.
  4. The children will need individual or shared small containers of water and 2 round double- pointed toothpicks.
  5. Please remember to provide name tags for each child.
